Sebastian Manhart joins the Negative Emissions Platform Board

Sebastian Manhart, one of Europe’s most prominent voices on carbon dioxide removal policy and markets, has joined the Board of the Negative Emissions Platform (NEP)

Sebastian is one of the most recognised voices in carbon dioxide removal (CDR), providing daily market and policy insights to more than 48,000 followers. He is Senior Policy Advisor at Carbonfuture, Chair of the Board of DVNE, the German CDR Association, co-host of the CDR Policy Scoop podcast, and founder of CDRjobs, the sector’s leading job platform.

He joins NEP at a key moment for the carbon removal sector in Europe, as policymakers and industry increasingly focus on how to create durable demand for CDR through climate policy and carbon markets.

Europe continues to lead on CDR policy, and NEP has already proven its ability to influence EU climate legislation so that carbon removals are recognised as an essential part of the climate framework. Looking forward to adding my experience to this cause!
— Sebastian Manhart, Carbonfuture, DVNE

Sebastian’s appointment comes as NEP steps up its work to advance demand generation for durable carbon removals in Europe, including through EU policy, public procurement and market development. These issues will also be central to discussions at the Negative Emissions Summit 2026, where demand for carbon removals will be high on the agenda.

Sebastian brings a strong combination of policy expertise, market insight and visibility across the carbon removal ecosystem. We are delighted to welcome him to the Board at a time when Europe needs clear leadership on scaling demand for durable carbon removals.
