Climate needs carbon removals

The science on carbon removals is clear

Carbon removals are essential to achieving net-zero emissions. Beyond net zero, permanent removals will also be needed to address emissions overshoot and enable net-negative emissions in order to stabilise global temperatures over the long term.

The IPCC says that 5-10 gigatons of carbon removals will be needed each year by 2050. Countries have pledged only around 3.6 Gt of removals by 2050, well below what climate scenarios require  >
