The Negative Emissions Platform welcomes InPlanet, a carbon removal company scaling enhanced rock weathering across Brazil’s agricultural heartland.
InPlanet applies finely ground silicate rock to agricultural land, accelerating the natural weathering process through which rocks remove CO₂ from the atmosphere. Its work combines Brazil’s basalt reserves, tropical climate and extensive farming networks with science and technology to deliver durable carbon removal while helping to replenish agricultural soils.
Brazil’s warm temperatures, high rainfall and acidic soils can accelerate weathering reactions, while the application of rock powder can improve soil conditions and reduce farmers’ dependence on conventional fertilisers. InPlanet works closely with farmers, researchers and corporate buyers to deploy enhanced rock weathering across crops including citrus, sugarcane, grains, coffee and pastures.
The company combines field deployment with rigorous monitoring, reporting and verification, contributing to the scientific evidence and measurement systems needed for enhanced rock weathering to scale with integrity.
“Scaling durable carbon removal requires more than breakthrough technology, it requires collaboration across industry, science, and policy. We’re excited to join the Negative Emissions Platform and contribute to building the trusted ecosystem needed to accelerate high-integrity carbon removal at the scale the climate demands.”
As an NEP member, InPlanet will contribute its experience in large-scale deployment, agricultural partnerships and carbon removal measurement to NEP’s policy and industry work. Its expertise will strengthen discussions on robust certification, transparent MRV and the policy frameworks needed to support a diverse portfolio of permanent carbon removal methods.
“Delivering durable carbon removal with integrity depends on rigorous science, transparent measurement, and continuous collaboration. Through the Negative Emissions Platform, we’re looking forward to sharing our expertise, learning from our peers, and helping advance the standards that will enable carbon removal to scale responsibly.”
InPlanet joins NEP’s growing network of carbon removal suppliers, buyers, investors and other organisations working to shape effective policy and build a credible market for permanent carbon removals.
